Just in time foe Easter, here is a bunny for you!
Here is my finished art for the cover of Animal Jam #2 from Dynamite Comics! The beautiful colors are by the talented Pete Pantazis. I love his palette for this one. I’m also drawing the interiors and writing at least one story for the issue. Each issue of Animal Jam featureĀ a couple of stories. I’m writing at least one ten-page story in each one. In the first issue, I’ve written a ten page story, The Trojan Elephant, plus a four-pager, Picnic Panic. There is another eight page story in the first issue that I drew but I did not write. I hope you’ll check them out! Animal Jam is based on the popular online game from National Geographic.
Just in case you’ve missed my previous posts about my Animal Jam gig, there is an Animal Jam Free Comic Book Day Special that I completely wrote and drew that will be available this coming Free Comic Book Day, May 6th. Check out the cover for that one here. This one was also colored by Pete:
As usual, I’ll be spending my Free Comic Book Day at the great Dewey’s Comic City in Madison, NJ where I’ve spent EVERY Free Comic Book Day …except maybe the very first one. As my pal, Dan Veltre, the great proprietor of Dewey’s, loves to tell me “It wouldn’t be Free Comic Book Day without Fernando.” What a guy! Dan does a great job in turning Free Comic Book Day into a real event. I’ll be there signing comics and drawing free sketches all day alongside other artists, many of whom were my students at the Kubert School. I’ll be there with my fellow Epics guys, Fabio Redivo and Anthony Marques, who is currently an editor at Dynamite Comics and my boss on my Animal Jam gig. I’ll be posting more details on my Free Comic Book Day appearance on my Events page very soon so please keep checking back here.
In case you missed it, here is my cover to Animal Jam #1 which was also colored by Pete:
