Here is a marker sketch of Marvel Comics’ First Lady of their Marvel Universe, Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four. This one was colored with my ever-loving’ combo of Copic and Chartpak markers. I did it as a demo for my students at the Kubert School.
I used as my model for Sue the lovely model and actress Shirley Eaton. Shirley might best be known for the role of the ill-fated Jill Masterson in the classic James Bond film… and my personal favorite of the franchise… Goldfinger. For those who don’t recognize the name, Jill is the girl that the evil Goldfinger murders by having her entire body painted gold. I always thought that Shirley in that film made a perfect Sue. If there had been a Fantastic Four movie filmed in 1963, the producers would have perfect casting with Shirley. I always thought Susan Oliver, a prolific TV character actress of the sixties, would also be a good candidate for the Invisible Woman. Susan might best be known by genre fans for her role as Vina, the pretty survivor in the original Star Trek pilot, The Cage.
