Here we have Lt. Jadzia Dax from Star Trek Deep Space Nine. To be even more specific, it’s Lieutenant Dax as she appeared in the early seasons of the series when she was still a lieutenant. In the later half of the series, she’s promoted to lieutenant commander.
This particular piece was commissioned by the talented Dennis Budd, a former student of mine from the Kubert School. Dennis was in the legendary 1A of 1997, one of my all-time most favorite groups that I ever taught. Now Dennis is a very talented artist in his own right and I’m grateful that he supported my campaign and asked for such a fun piece for me to draw. I’m a big Star Trek fan myself so any Star Trek themed commissions are always fun to tackle.
Jadzia here was done in pencil, ink, and colored with Copic markers. She measures 9″ x 12″ and is on Bristol paper. Please watch Jadzia come together in my video over at Fernando Ruiz Art on Youtube.
