Cheryl Blossom

Years ago, Archie Comics used to offer on their website the opportunity where fans could buy headshots like the one here of Archie Comics’ roguish redhead, Cheryl Blossom. The buyer could choose their favorite character and they could choose from Dan Parent or myself to draw it. Archie started this right around the Holidays and for a short while it seemed to go well. Then, I don’t know why, but the whole thing just went away.

One collector of these headshot accumulated a nice set of most of the main characters drawn by me. He even framed each one and hung them in his home. Recently, he sent me a pic of this very nice display and I’m honored and flattered to be featured so nicely in his home. His set was lacking in one respect however… there was no Cheryl Blossom! Fortunately, we’ve now corrected this serious omission with the above piece!

The same buyer is also a fan of Sabrina the Teen-Age Witch and in particular, he liked Sabrina’s more goth-like, creepier portrayal in the fan favorite crossover mini-series, Archie Vs Predator. I must say I had a lot of fun drawing that particular issue of AVP. Its nice to see that book is still very well remembered.

Both of these are drawn in pencil, inked with black ink, and colored using a combination of Copic and Chartpak markers. They measure 9″ x 12″ and are on white 2ply bristol paper.
