JOSIE & THE PUSSYCATS …Now In Color!

Earlier this month, I posted a Josie & The Pussycats commission that I plan on turning into a print. When I posted the piece, it was still black and white line art. You can view that piece here:

I sent the black and white art off to the incredible Anwar Hanano for coloring. Here is the final piece above.

In other news… Last week, Dan Parent and I traveled to Vancouver, Canada for Fan Expo Vancouver. It was a fun show and thanks to Kevin Boyd and David Gray for taking such good care of us as always. I regret I hadn’t posted this appearance in my Events page but its been a very busy few weeks with a number of back-to-back shows and a number of projects… most of which I still can’t talk about at this time! I can say that its looking like I’m going to have TWO free comic books on Free Comic Book Day 2017 featuring my work. One of course is Die Kitty Die related and coming from Chapterhouse Comics. More on that one soon. The other FCBD project I still can’t disclose but its a fun one!

Up next… Tomorrow is the New Jersey Comic Expo in Edison, NJ. This is my LAST appearance of the 2017 convention season. The cons are already being lined up for 2017 and I’ll be posting them as usual on my Events page so keep checking back here often. As part of the NJ Comic Expo festivities, the Kubert School will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary with a special anniversary panel on Saturday at 3:00. I’ll be there so don’t miss out. It should be a very special event.

I wish I could have the Josie piece above available as a print at the show this weekend but time is too tight. Rest assured, it will be available for the 2017 convention season when Dan Parent and I launch the 2017 Die Kitty Die Hollywood Or Bust World Tour! If you’d like one before then, just e-mail me via this site.

Thanks!

Wow, Anwar really made this piece “pop” compared to the small b&w scan you posted earlier. I’m kind of surprised he didn’t make Val’s tattoos a little more obvious, though. You’re right though, that’s definitely one for your prints collection.

Thanks, Dennis. I’m glad you like it. I was pretty happy that Anwar went a subtle route with Val’s tats! I didn’t want them to be a big thing. I hope folks like this one. It’ll make the rounds at the cons starting in early 2017!

There’s definitely a difference from the black and white version. This one really stands out. I’m impressed with the use of colors on Valerie, Josie, and Melody.

I have been a fan of the Josie crew since comics weren’t cool. I like your artwork even though it is different from Dan DiCarlo, who is one of my idols.
