Superman Meets The Hulk!

Crossovers remain one of my most popular themes. On this one, DC Comics’ Superman meets Marvel Comics’ Incredible Hulk.

Lately I find that when I finish a job… especially a pretty heavy one… I like to indulge myself with a piece I draw just for fun. That’s what happened with this one. I just wrapped up pencils for The Shape Of Elvira #4 (More on that one in another post!) and I wanted to loosen up with a couple of pieces that would appeal to me at least if no one else. Earlier this week I posted a piece in which Spider-Man faced off against his electrical enemy, Electro. I’m probably the only Electro fan left on Earth but I don’t care. Today I stretched my artistic legs with Superman and the Hulk.

For Superman, my life long favorite comic book character, I based my interpretation on my two favorite Superman artists, the legendary Curt Swan, and the still-amazing Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. Both men drew the Superman I grew up with and its their version that I always think of whenever I think of the character in print.

The Hulk for me begins and ends with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. I love that big flat square head, the heavy brow, and the jutting jaw laden with those big chunky teeth.

As with most of these “just-for-fun” pieces, this one will be available and on display at the upcoming Garden State Comic Fest. Details on that show will be up on my Events page very soon. Please keep checking back!

What other crossovers would you like to see? Please let me know in the comments below! Thanks, Everybody!
